WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Edmund Burke Foundation today announced that its chairman, Dr. Yoram Hazony, has been appointed to the Heritage Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Dr. Hazony is the chairman of the National Conservatism Conference (“NatCon”), president of the Herzl Institute in Jerusalem, and one of the leading conservative political theorists writing today. His award-winning scholarship has played a central role in the renewal of conservative thought in the United States and across the West, especially on questions of nationhood, religion, constitutional government, and the political inheritance of Western civilization.
“The Heritage Foundation has been a cornerstone of American conservatism for more than 50 years,” said Dr. Hazony.
“I am honored to join its Board of Trustees at a time when conservatives are working to restore national self-government, constitutional order, religious tradition, and the inherited institutions that make a free society possible. I look forward to supporting Heritage’s work as it continues to give practical form to these principles in American public life.”
Hazony is the author of The Virtue of Nationalism, which was selected as the Intercollegiate Studies Institute’s Conservative Book of the Year in 2019, and Conservatism: A Rediscovery, published in 2022.
His earlier works include The Philosophy of Hebrew Scripture, The Jewish State: The Struggle for Israel’s Soul, A Jewish State: Herzl and the Promise of Nationalism, and God and Politics in Esther. He has also edited volumes on Jewish theology and biblical political philosophy.

In addition to his work in conservative political theory, Hazony has made significant contributions to Jewish intellectual life and higher education in Israel. A native of Rehovot, Israel, Hazony grew up inPrinceton, New Jersey. He graduated from Princeton with a B.A. in East Asian Studies and earned his Ph.D. in Political Theory from Rutgers University. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife, Yael Hazony. They have nine children.
